Dining and Activity Space – Nursery and Play School, Kottayam
In the heart of Kottayam, this dining and activity space was conceived as a joyful extension of a nurturing school environment. The design creates a flexible, shaded area that encourages gathering, movement, and interaction among young learners.
A large covered platform forms the core of the space, seamlessly connecting the dining area with an open courtyard. A cantilevered roof extension further enhances the shaded zones, allowing for informal play and flexible activities under a protected environment. Adjacent support spaces, including a compact kitchen, are integrated efficiently to support daily functions without disrupting the openness of the setting.
The structure maintains a simple, robust architectural character, with clean walls that blend into the surrounding green landscape. A long, textured exterior wall anchors the building visually, offering a sense of enclosure while still feeling open and welcoming.
Natural light and ventilation play a key role in the design, creating bright, airy interiors that promote comfort and well-being. The overall result is a space that blends practicality with warmth, supporting the rhythms of school life with a spirit of openness and care.
