Office Extension Using Steel Structure – Kottayam
This project involved the vertical expansion of an existing building using lightweight steel construction methods. Designed with precision and executed within the dense fabric of a developed residential area, the extension accommodates additional office spaces, ensuring minimal disruption to the functioning of the existing structure.

The new floors were constructed using a prefabricated steel framework combined with lightweight panel walls and roofing, allowing for swift and efficient erection with minimal on-site activity. The clean, gridded expression of the exposed steelwork gives the structure a contemporary character, contrasting yet harmonizing with the existing building. Ample natural light is brought into the interior spaces through large window openings and the strategic use of glass walls at the staircase bay, creating bright and airy workspaces.

The topmost level has been kept open with a protective roof, offering the flexibility for multipurpose use in the future. This level is currently envisioned as a semi-outdoor breakout space for staff gatherings or recreation.

The project demonstrates an approach that blends modular construction with thoughtful adaptation to site conditions. The finished building, framed by mature trees, sits lightly on the landscape while achieving the practical goal of expanding usable area efficiently and economically.
